Church commission calls for safeguard of workers’ dignity

The Church’s Commission for Pastoral Activities Among Workers said in a statement it was willing to cooperate with anyone who wanted to contribute to safeguard the dignity of workers, whatever their original roots.

The commission said it wanted all workers to enjoy justice and safety while having their life safeguarded at their workplace.

It expressed its appreciation at the General Workers’ Union’s contribution in the employment sector through a policy paper it published recently and said that the church, which was among the first to work with irregular immigrants and to make their human rights known and respected, was pleased to see organisations unite in their commitment to safeguard the dignity of all people.

The more people worked together, the more possible it would be to put in practice values such as those of solidarity and justice, the commission said.
