The Consumers' Association yesterday asked all commercial banks to ensure that the interests of consumers whose investments may be negatively impacted by the global financial crisis are adequately safeguarded and that consumers are advised in good time as to what remedial measures, if any, need to be taken. It requested the government and the Malta Financial Services Authority to monitor the situation closely and to intervene where necessary to safeguard the interests of consumers.
"The consumers have the right to be informed", it added.
