Government to detail MEPA reform by year's end
The government is planning to announce the details on the reform at the Malta Environment and Planning Authority by the end of the year, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said this evening.
Dr Gonzi said the reform at MEPA was key to achieving sustainable development.
He said there were certain policies which had to be revised and honesty was required to admit mistakes committed in the past. He said there were things that could have been done better and that the reform was aimed at correcting them.
Dr Gonzi, who was being interviewed by PBS head of news Natalino Fenech on the granaries as part of the PN Independence celebrations.
Replying to a question on the code of ethics for members of the judiciary, Dr Gonzi said there was the Commission for the Administration of Justice which was regulating judges and magistrates. He said he was not convinced that the commission was enough, adding that through discussions with members of the judiciary more progress can be made in this field.

Good Morning Mr. Gonzi, well better late then never so they say, that was a late wake up call, I wonder what springs you to life?
You need to clean the whole of MEPA not a reform.
Start from fresh.

It is good to see that all the doomsayers and cynics who labelled Dr.Gonzi as a dreamer and the MEPA reform promise as nothing more than an electoral carrot are being proved wrong and I hope that they too participate in this much needed reform to make one of malta's biggest albatrosses around its neck credible and sensible again!! It's good to see that this promise (one of the biggest vote swayers in the last election) is already taking shape!! Keep up the momentum Dr.Gonzi!!
