Erasmus mobility programme
The International and EU Office at the University of Malta has issued the Erasmus Staff Mobility for Teaching Assignments applications for the academic year 2008-2009.
The scheme provides partial financing in the form of grants to lecturers at the University of Malta to conduct short teaching mobility periods in other European Universities. Over the past year, more than 250 bilateral agreements for teaching staff mobility, with universities in 27 different countries have been signed in a wide range of subject areas.
Since its introduction locally in the year 2000, the Erasmus mobility programme has attracted participation from a large number of faculties and institutes and has been extremely useful not only at the level of personal academic development but also for the development of cooperation in research areas, mobility of students and the development of new curricula.
The application, list of placements and further information can be obtained from: www.um.edu.mt/int-eu/erasmus/teachingassignments.
Applications and supporting documentation are to be submitted to the International and EU Office, Room 106, Administration Building (tel: 2340 2804, e-mail: erasmus@um.edu.mt) by tomorrow. Late applications will not be considered.
Kids' club
The Creative Energy Kids' Club will switch back to winter mode in a continuous effort to tap into the artistic qualities of children.
Steered by actor/artist couple Philip and Simone Stilon, the sessions start in October and will be held at Ta' l-Ibraġ and Birkirkara.
The club aims to instil within children aged between five and 10 a strong sense of enjoyment and encourages development through art, music and drama.
Studies have shown that, in most cases, creative children usually have a better self-esteem as well as critical thinking skills and social skills.
The winter club also gives children the opportunity to develop their artistic inclinations through art, music and drama skills.
