The chief executive officer of the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority, Mario Galea, is refusing to comment on reports that he will be resigning.
The Malta-based specialist website igamingprofilermalta.com reported yesterday afternoon that Mr Galea has been cancelling his usual appointments at the upcoming European iGaming Congress and Expo (EiG), to be held in Barcelona next week.
Mr Galea was at the heart of the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority for the past eight years, spearheading the fast growth of the Maltese igaming industry, which is now a major world player.
The chairman of the Lotteries and Gaming Authority, Nick Xuereb, told igamingprofilermalta he was unaware of Mr Galea's resignation but would not comment about the cancellation of his EiG appointments.
