Megabyte wins major Etihad Airways contract
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has signed a contract with Maltese software development company Megabyte Ltd for the supply of Megabyte’s Airline Route Profitability System (ARPS) and related services.
Etihad issued an international request for proposals for the implementation of a route profitability solution last February. A number of major international software vendors submitted an offer and Megabyte’s proposal made it to the finishing line.
Once Megabyte was selected as the preferred supplier, Etihad carried out an extensive evaluation of Megabyte’s products and services, as well as a due diligence exercise to evaluate Megabyte’s capability to handle such business critical projects. Megabyte passed all tests successfully.
Among the major selling points of the Megabyte solution is the fact that the software can be customised to meet all of Etihad’s requirements and integrates with industry standard financial systems, like the Oracle eBusiness Suite.
The solution also has the ability to interface with other airline specific systems, such as those dealing with revenue accounting, fuel management and flight operations. Additionally, Etihad felt confident that Megabyte can offer a number of value added services, such as business process consulting and professional service management.
Mr Galea said: “We are very pleased that Etihad has chosen Megabyte to provide the solution for their airline route profitability requirements, more so because we are being preferred to all the major worldwide players for such solutions. The signing is a milestone in Megabyte’s 30-year history and one which the ICT industry of Malta should be proud of.”

Once when I was a young lad in UK an ex Royal navy captain who had been stationed in Malta told me that the best asset Malta has is its people and their ability to do things under difficult circumstances. This proves his point once again.
Congratulations Lads we are all proud of you.
