The Gift of Life foundation has re-launched the Right to Life campaign, which is aimed at entrenching the ban on abortion in the Constitution.
The campaign was suspended due to the general elections in March.
"We believe that it is now time to reopen talks with the Government and the Leader of the Opposition on the way forward towards finally updating the Constitution of Malta, to clearly extend the right to life to the unborn child," the foundation said.
It said it would meet the leader of the Malta Labour Party on Thursday.
"We have been waiting for the MLP to take an official position in favour of this amendment for the last four years. We are hopeful that under the new leadership matters will finally move along and that justice in favour of the unborn will prevail," the foundation said.
It said it was awaiting a date for a meeting with Dr Gonzi.
The foundation in November we presented MPs from both sides of the House with a petition containing 39,000 valid signatures of people in favour of this campaign. These included signatures of 36 Members of Parliament.
"We are concerned that there has been no reaction to this petition as yet from either side of the House," the foundation said.
