Alsace choir at St George's

Pluricanto, a male choir from the Alsace region in France, gave a concert of sacred music at St George's Basilica on September 6, the day the church celebrated 50 years since it was named a basilica.

The Chorus Urbanus, which was instrumental in making the choir's visit possible, met Pluricanto during a tour to the Alsace region two years ago when the choir was invited to sing in the Les Noelies festival at Strasbourg Cathedral.

Choirs from 20 EU countries performed at the event. The choir sang various pieces by Meyer, Bovet, Volery, Brahms, Gaillard, Schmid, Gounod, Back, Robinius, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Bortniansky, Fisher and Schubert. The choir was under the direction of Dominique Wicker while Jennifer Camilleri accompanied the choir on the piano.
