Three MITTS employees suspended
Three workers at MITTS, the government's IT services operator, have been suspended, and the police have been called in to investigate a breach of internal policies and procedures, a spokesman for the IT Ministry has confirmed.
He said no further details could be given at this stage.

@ J. Borg
Your comments I deemed as sarcastic because you didn't have the decency to come out and say what you wanted to imply by your comment.
Your comments clearly implied that the problem lies with the Government in contracting out the IT services to the private sector and the issue contained in the article wouldn't have had happened if this was not the case.
Governments, to medium/large Companies all over the world contract out thier IT requirements to out house companies to provide/manage/run thier IT requiremnents. What the article doesn't say is that in mostly likely hood all the audit checks where in place to trigger the Authorities that all was not right to trigger the investigation.
What I think would have been more appropriate is to thank those responsable that had the hindsite to but all the checks and balances in the system so such things do not go unnoticed.

Joe Vella - it is peculiar why you have gone so defensive on this issue
I made a simply query (sarcastic why?) -
is it true that there's a push to farm out tasks to private subcontractors?
Should this be so, when there is extensive personal data involved?
Who stands to gain and who stands to lose?
No, I'm no angel - however this does not give me an excuse to do anything I want, but neither to shy away from Socrates' suggestion to ask 'why'

But why do many of you have to involve politics in every thing in their life? Aren't the vast majority fed up with politics yet? This has nothing to do with politics. This has to do with our money. Yes our money because we are paying these people and this is not the first time. We have had other entities with the same problem in the past and not so recent past. Anybody foound guilty should lose his job immediately, if money is involved return it and yes if need be put behind bars. And what are the department heads and their superiors there for?? What about spot checks but serious ones please!!!!! It is irresponsible to say this this happens every where because then one is accepting all this.

This country needs a CTO desperately!!!
On another note, here's an experiment for you. Count the amount of broken links on any government website.

If things go as usual, these individuals will be re-instated after a paid holiday, even IF they have done something illegal.
This culture of employees being untouchable is poisoning the labour market, making employers prefer definite contracts and creating a two-tier system of employment. Either full security, or full flexibility - but absolutely no flexicurity for anybody. As usual, soceity as a whole is the looser, but we prefer to stay quiet and avoid rocking the boat.

Excactly, I agree with you on both points. That is the point I was trying the make, and tried to make the only way some would understand. Unfortunately thare are many on here that try to politicize everything that .

Joe Vella: These things happen whenever you have an election for 'power'.
On another note, with reference to the article at hand, I would really like to know more details about the matter since it is quite vague and also fertile ground for a lot of unnecessary speculation.

Most of the times it is not what is mentioned, but what is implied. My comments where in response to j.borg comment below. For one to be sarcastic, better be clean before he/she post anything, cause none of us are angles dressed in white cloths.
Just pointed out that bad apples are found in every organizations regardless of its' nature. Surely, you would agree with me that in recent memory components within the MLP have worked to undermine the MLP leadership.

@ Joe Vella
Where did you see MLP mentioned within this article if you don't mind?

If the police were involved, I doubt it was only an internal matter. Besides, with MITTS being custodian of so much personal and private data emanating from every government department and ministry, I think the public have a right to know more about what happened.

In every organisation being it be Governmental, Political or Private enterprise one finds some bad apple(s). The MLP should attest to this. The only problem in the MLP case is that the pit seems to be bottomless.

guess the IT Ministry prefers to have more private subcontractors....
one wonders who is controlling these private subcontractors?
