The jazz sessions at the Bridge Bar, in Valletta are being extended into autumn.

Over the years, Bridge Bar has hosted some of the more prominent local musicians and expatriates, as well as visiting jazz musicians, including Christophe Panzani, Lionel Boccara and Brazilian musicians Sergio Krakowsky and Fernanado del Papa.

The autumn sessions provide an ongoing schedule of musicians playing on the steps of St Ursula Street and Victoria Gate. Local musicians include Oliver Degabriele, Sandro Zerafa, Charles Gatt, Bibi, Marc Galea and Walter Vella among others. Sessions are held on Fridays starting at 9.30 p.m.

The jazz season will terminate with the autumn concert Café Brazil, which is this year scheduled for mid-November and features Brazilian band Botafogu, which made its Maltese debut at the MITP Theatre, Valletta, last year.

Botafogu is a quartet of Paris-based musicians led by the French bass player Jacques Figueras, who resides in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Their music is a tribute to the great composer and multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal and to other major Brazilian figures such as Pixinguinha and Tom Jobim.

This year's line-up will include Jacques, Mr Zerafa on guitar, Sergio Krakowsky on Pandero and Nico Gori on clarinet as well as the much-awaited voice of Catia Werneck.
