Fractured skull caused young motorcyclist's death

The 16-year-old youth involved in Thursday's motorcycle fatality in Cospicua died of a fractured skull, an autopsy determined yesterday.

Ishmael Frendo died late in the afternoon when the Piaggio he was driving smashed against the façade of the Cospicua Regatta Club.

The police also said that an autopsy on the body of 43-year-old Mellieħa diver Frank Baldacchino established that he had died by drowning.

Mr Baldacchino's corpse was found in Paradise Bay early on Wednesday morning after having sailed out on his boat, as was his custom, from Xemxija on Tuesday afternoon. When he failed to return home and attempts to contact him proved fruitless, his family raised the alarm in the evening.

His corpse was sighted by an aircraft at sunrise the following morning.
