Some 500 Maltese young people this summer carried out voluntary work abroad, while another 500 did similar work in Malta, Archbishop Paul Cremona was told at a meeting for these volunteers yesterday.

Maltese youths were involved in voluntary work in Ethiopia, Albania, India, Tunisia, Italy, Lourdes, Brazil and Egypt, while locally, they worked among migrants and at the summer school run by the Sisters of Mother Teresa.

Mgr Cremona praised the young people for their service and example and urged them not to be discouraged when they were “persecuted” because of their choices.
