I refer to a letter by Frans H. Said (September 9). I do agree that dogs that are kept by irresponsible owners can be a nuisance but, please, do not blame the dog. Blame the owner!

If the writer knew anything about dogs, he would certainly not make such wild statements that dogs are aggressive and wee and poop when they feel like. He should adopt a dog and find out for himself how responsive trained dogs are and how much love, attention and loyalty they give their owners!

However, I totally agree that there are a number of irresponsible dog owners, especially around Qawra, walking their dogs in the area behind the bus station up to the Promenade who either do not carry any bags to clear up the mess or, if they do carry a bag, they keep on walking and leave the mess behind when their dogs foul on the pavement but they think nobody is watching.

I have never yet seen a warden speaking to any such owners. Now if we change the subject and talk of parking tickets, that is a different story, as in the case of 95 per cent of the tickets they issue they do not have to confront the drivers but just stick the ticket under the wiper and walk away quietly.
