Youth, 16, dies in motorcycle crash in Cospicua

A 16-year-old boy died late yesterday afternoon when the motorcycle he was riding crashed in Cospicua, police sources said.

A few minutes after 5 p.m. the police received an anonymous telephone call informing them that a person was lying on the ground close to an extensively-damaged Piaggio motorcycle near the regatta club.

The police despatched patrol cars to the scene and an ambulance was called in.

The sources said it was immediately noticed that the teenager was dead.

Duty Magistrate Miriam Hayman was informed and a number of experts were appointed to assist in an inquiry she opened.

District Police Inspector Jesmond Borg is heading investigations.
