Court rejects plea to stop airport fuel services privatisation
A court this morning turned down a request by Attard Services Ltd, as representative of Shell Aviation Ltd, to stop the government from privatising airport fuel services provided by Enemalta.
The Court found that applicants had not established that their rights would be prejudiced by the privatisation of the Petroleum Division and services given at the airport, and there was no justification to stop the process.
The company had made a similar request in June.
Earlier this year Attard Brothers sued Enemalta and the Malta Resources Authority, complaining that delays (mostly related to storage facilities owned by Enemalta at the airport) were preventing it from selling aviation fuel. The company won an aircraft fuelling tender issued by Malta International Airport in 2004.

Just one area in which Air Malta is being discriminated against. At base in Malta, Air Malta cannot negotiate the fuel contracts, while it competitors have the possibilty of negotiating the fuel price at their home base. Where is the free market economy in Malta for aviation fuel supplies.?
