The Labour Party this afternoon strongly rejected a claim by IT minister Austin Gatt that it had a strategy to hinder or harm SmartCity.
It also denied having ‘celebrated’ the departure of an IT company from Malta.
The party was reacting to a statement issued by the IT Ministry which criticised reports in the Labour media.
The party accused the minister of arrogance and said he even expected to control what was carried in the media.
The MLP recalled that two years ago the minister had spoken at a press conference where it was announced that Atlas Technology Group would be the first corporation to work from SmartCity and had promised to create 600 ICT jobs.
When Atlas stopped its operations in Malta, Dr Gatt and his ministry kept an absolute silence and once the news was broken, Dr Gatt launched an attack on the Labour media.
