A Mellieħa feast worth recalling

May we congratulate all those people who had anything to do with the organisation of the feast of Our Lady of Victories in Mellieħa?

We have been present for three consecutive years and we think that this year's has surpassed any of the others we have witnessed.

Both bands are very professional and they did their part so efficiently.

Various programmes which they held were unforgettable experiences and so refined.

But the best and yet not last remark and compliment that we must pass is about the fireworks.

They were lovely, entertaining and yet so elegant in their presentation and without the usual loud bangs.

The effect was just as good and they were so pleasant to watch. I hope that more Maltese emulate the Mellieħa example; a few chosen fireworks without the huge bangs and with colourful shooters.

The use of the parish church façade for the fireworks finale was unique and absolutely wonderful.

We have always had very good and hard-working councils in this village and the present one under mayor Robert Cutajar is no exception. May we augur success to the Iljieli Melliħin this weekend.

Hard work and imagination is the name of the game.
