New base for Yamato Dojo
Aikido Yamato Dojo have just marked their 15th anniversary since being established in Malta with a three-day seminar that was led by one of Europe's top Aikidoka, 5th Dan Renato Tamburelli, of Italy.
Master Tamburelli was also present for the opening of the club's new headquarters, at Maria Assumpta School, Ħamrun, along with Parliamentary Secretary for Sport Clyde Puli.
In Malta, Aikido is primarily promoted by word of mouth through a group of enthusiastic practitioners.
New students approach with an element of curiosity this gentle art but rapidly become enthralled by the power and beauty of its moves, a Yamato Dojo statement said.
Older students often reflect that despite the years of practice of Aikido there is still plenty more to learn making it an art one can truly practise all life.
Yamato Dojo will commence junior classes for 10-16-year-olds.

The original text specified that the Yamato club celebrated the '15th Anniversary of Aikido in Malta in a three day seminar'. It seems that since text was concise, gave this interpretation which is somewhat mislead. If one needs to check the club website www.aikidomalta.net it is quite clear that club was founded in 2006.

Aikido as such has been around for about 15 years. However it is incorrect to state that the 'Yamato Dojo' is celebrating its 15 years of existance. If I have been practicing a sport for 15 years and now I open a club, I cannot 'transfer' my 15 years to the club's history as such. The mentioned club has been in existance for about two years following two splits, first from the parent club founded by Sensei Fahmi and then another one when the present sensei decided to found a new club run by himself.
