Joseph Psaila, 51 of Rabat was today conditionally discharged for a year after he admitted assaulting and slightly injuring two wardens at Iklin yesterday. The incident happened shortly after 6.30 p.m.

In a separate case, Philip Schembri of Zebbug pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring a warden in Birkirkara yesterday at 11.45 a.m. He was granted bail.

The incident was condemned by the General Workers Union which stressed that situations where workers were physically harassed while performing a public duty should not be allowed to escalate.

It called for measures providing wardens with adequate protection against acts of violence.
