The Manoel Theatre will be opening this year's season on Saturday September 27 with a concert featuring Beethoven's famous "Emperor" Concerto and Schubert's "Great" Symphony, performed by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.

Music Director and conductor Brian Schembri said the selection was anything but arbitrary. "The choice of programme had to be not only attractive, important and impressive, but it also had to have a very deep personal meaning for me".

Pianist Stefan Cassar will be the soloist for this concert. Mr Cassar is a respected name in France, where he is currently living, performing regularly, giving master classes, and expanding his performance career throughout Europe. Having some years back, already given a highly acclaimed performance of Beethoven's 3rd Piano Concerto, also conducted by Brian Schembri, Stefan Cassar's rendition of the "Emperor" promises to be one of the highlights in the theatre's rich musical calendar.
