Mepa caseload stands at 4,921

The pending caseload of development applications stands at 4,921 after Mepa determined 336 and received 428 during August, the authority said yesterday.

During the same month, the authority said it processed 82 development notifications which, according to the Development Notification Order, do not require a formal application.

Furthermore, 69 stop and enforcement notices were issued, 55 in Malta and 14 in Gozo, and 47 enforcement cases were closed, 31 in Malta and 16 in Gozo.

Of these, 33 were sanctioned by the issue of a sanctionable permit.

Another 12 cases were resolved after the owners decided to remove any illegal development and comply with the enforcement notice.

Two cases were withdrawn by the authority.
