I refer to the letter by Alex Vella entitled Shameful, Dangerous Roadworks Practices (September 4).

I would like to draw the attention of Triq is-Sliem residents that works currently in hand at Triq is-Sliem, Santa Marija Estate are being carried out and supervised by the ADT. This, however, does not put the council's mind at rest, as pressure was exerted on the ADT as well as the Ministry concerned, when works were temporarily suspended.

It is also to be pointed out that way back in 1997, the council took it upon itself to start court proceedings against the company that owns Santa Marija Estate, with a view to establishing who is responsible for the construction and maintenance of roads within the estate. Due to the outcome of the court case, the ADT last year embarked on a programme of works involving the laying of sewage mains and road construction.

In fact Triq il-Palm, Triq l-Alwetta, Triq il-Gardell and Triq il-Bilbla have already been completed. Works are also currently in hand in Triq in-Nixxiegħa, Triq l-Għaqda, Triq il-Hena and in Triq il-Ħlewwa. The council is also informed that works will start soon in Triq iż-Żebbuġ, Triq ir-Rundun, Triq il-Bufula, Daħlet is-Sardinell, Daħlet id-Dalji and Triq ir-Rundun.
