I refer to the letter by Joseph Stafrace entitled After-party Litter In Marsascala (September 4).
Mr Stafrace's concerns are very valid and we feel frustrated at the fact that unknown persons regularly dump material and litter illegally at the end of this street, next to our facilities. We have cleaned up this place ourselves more than once and we also had good collaboration from Wasteserv Malta Ltd on this issue. Within our limits of control, we strictly monitor and urge party organisers to collaborate on this matter.
I negate the statement from Mr Stafrace that we seem to do nothing about this situation.
We do not feel comfortable about the fact that we have litter next to our facilities even because fires are regularly caused from such dumping, damaging our boundary walls and at the risk of the fire spreading inside our animal park. Although the situation has improved from past years we unite with Mr Stafrace's plea and urge the necessary authorities to take note of this situation. Our organisation spends over €2,400 a year in waste disposal expenses, an amount and task which we feel is our responsibility.
