Zero tolerance: The Italian government will have zero tolerance of hooliganism after violence marred Napoli's 1-1 Serie A draw at Roma, Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said yesterday. Napoli fans were banned from away games for the rest of the season after a train was ransacked on Sunday, causing 500,000 euros ($725,900) worth of damage. "We'll have no tolerance of those who commit violent and criminal acts especially if carried out in a mob," Berlusconi told a news conference.

Beitar Jerusalem: Israeli champions Beitar Jerusalem have dismissed coach Yitzhak Shum and replaced him with compatriot Reuven Atar. The club began the league season with a goalless draw against Bnei Sakhnin on Sunday and lie bottom of the standings with a minus-one points total. The club were deducted two league points for a pitch invasion by fans last season.

Egypt: Middlesbrough midfielder Mohamed Shawky has pulled out of Egypt's World Cup qualifier this weekend because of a groin injury, the Egypt Football Association said. Shawky will miss the top-of-the-table clash in African zone Group 12 against the Democratic Republic of Congo in Kinshasa on Sunday. He also missed the opening four World Cup qualifiers in June because of injury.

Sweden: Midfielders Anders Svensson and Christian Wilhelmsson will miss Sweden's opening World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Hungary because of injury. FC Basel's Behrang Safari has been called up as a replacement, the Swedish FA said on its website. Sweden face Albania in Tirana tomorrow before hosting Hungary in Stockholm four days later.
