At the end of the first race of the 2008 G2-Sagra Famiglia Regatta, organised by the Imperial Gozo Yacht Club, John Cefai's Prime Time opened a comfortable lead of four minutes and 38 seconds over its closest opponents, on corrected ratings.

The regatta, with Paul Devoy as official, set off from Xatt l-Aħmar near Mġarr Harbour, turned around Comino and finished at Xatt l-Aħmar again.

Eight yachts participated in the regatta which was held in ideal weather conditions with a southeasterly breeze. The start was quite exciting with four boats challenging for the top position.

On the way back, Cefai's Prime Time surged into a significant lead as an engaging tussle for second and third place raged behind.

Illusion I (Tony Xuereb) eventually finished second, just 34 seconds ahead of First Class (Frankie Farrugia) on corrected time.

The second race of the G2-Sagra Famiglia Regatta, scheduled for September 14, will decide the winner of the Gleneagles Cup.
