November conference to discuss MLP statute changes
The Labour Party executive has decided to call an extraordinary general conference in mid-November to discuss a reform of the party statute, the MLP announced.
The decision was taken last night following a proposal by party leader Joseph Muscat.
A number of workshops will be held before the conference to enable the party delegates to discuss the changes.

@Chris Borg
How can there be any debate if the MEPs are muzzled? They are not allowed to voice a differing opinion. The conference will just be another rubber stamping exercise - as usual! The more Joe Muscat talks about change the more things say the same!
The MLP ostracizes those that DARE to express a point of view that is not 100% in line with the Lijder. It is why they have a Bord tal Vigilanza u Dixxiplina. The PN have no such organ and dissenting opinions are listened to even if it hurts - THAT is the difference! Pad idejn sodi has nothing to do with it ... and if you cannot tell the difference then that's your problem.

@ P grech. The Party is not Joseph Muscat and Joseph Muscat is not the Party. And yes, MEPs (and MPs) should abide to the Party's instructions and do their job (the report which would have to be sent by MEPs every 3 months would be a proof of their work). Those who are not willing to follow their Party's directives should contest as independents. Mr grech, does Lorry Gonzi allow the Nats in parliament do whatever they want? hahaha are those the par idejn sodi????

.... the MEPs participating in the conference MUST toe the Joe Muscat line or they will get fined Euro15,000 each....

Correction to my earlier:
it was Evarist Bartolo who recommended a deal with AD, not Leo Brincat. My mistake, and apologies.

What for?? What's the use in upheaving the MLP's structure when you get the International Secretary, only recently elected, reappearing on TV and ranting away against the EU?
It's the people in the MLP and their mentality that need changing. Otherwise nothing will be achieved. Has anyone read Alfred Mifsud and Leo Brincat today? The best the latter could come up with was striking a deal with Alternattiva! Cripes, is the situation in the MLP that bad?

HOPE ALL THE DELEGATES UNDERSTAND WHAT WORKSHOP IS! AND HOPE THAT THEY RECOGNIZE THE NEEDFUL CHANGES IN THE PARTY AND NOT TO DO LIKE WHAT THEY DID IN AUGUST!!!. DR MUSCAT KNOWS WHERE HE WANTS TO GO BUT HE NEEDS THE DELEGATES APPROVAL!
