The Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA) said today that it determined 336 development applications in August and received 428 new applications. The net pending caseload at the end of the month was 4,921.

During August the Authority processed 82 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2001, do not require a formal application.

During the same month, 69 Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 55 in Malta and 14 in Gozo.

In August 2008, 47 enforcement cases were closed, 31 in Malta and 16 in Gozo. 33 enforcement cases were sanctioned by the issue of a sanctionable permit. Another 12 cases were resolved since owners decided to remove illegal development and comply with enforcement notice. During the same month two cases were withdrawn by MEPA.
