I refer to the report carried by The Times on August 28, 2008, regarding St John's Co-Cathedral.

The last paragraph of this report states that "in more recent times the cathedral has been the cause of friction between Church and state over property rights, although the Church now only insists on its use for liturgical purposes".

This statement is incorrect and does not reflect the actual facts.

The deed establishing the St John's Co-Cathedral Foundation itself states that this foundation is being set up without prejudice to the outstanding issue about whether the co-cathedral belongs to the Church or to the state.
