With reference to the letter from Louis Parnis of Fgura (Holly Grima: First 'Maltese' Olympic Medallist?, September 2), I would like to inform him that in the Athens Olympics 2004, Australian shooter Adam Vella was also an Olympic medallist in Trap Shooting. He comes from a Maltese family where his father Joe Vella is my cousin, who emigrated to Australia with his parents in the 1950s.

His uncle Wenzu Vella, that is my father, represented Malta in shooting sports in 1960 in Rome. His cousin, that is my brother Larry Vella, was in the Moscow Olympics 1980, and another cousin Frans Pace represented Malta in Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000.
