Representatives of Maltese school in Sydney display perennial commitment

It was hand-shaking, kisses and congratulations all round as Skola Maltija Sydney and Akkademja Maltija ta' NSW Inc. representatives and other community language schools in New South Wales, Australia, celebrated the 30th anniversary of the NSW Federation of Community Language Schools at Nineveh Sports and Community Club on August 23.

Present on the night was the new consul of Malta in NSW, Annamaria Bonnici, who congratulated Akkademja management committee members Anthony Sciberras, Jane Borg, Cynthia Villar and Rhonda Balzan Bastow for setting up a display of student work and teaching resources of language and cultural studies by Skola Maltija Sydney students and teachers. On display were also projects about the Maltese National Anthem from the children, learning aids such as comprehension booklets, including Maltese oral CDs for the adult beginners' class, and new primary and adult beginner report documents, which were prepared during Skola Maltija's first year of operation.

Federation president Albert Vella congratulated everyone for their efforts in the past 30 years, in developing a vibrant language education sector, which is complimenting the independent and government school sector.
