Select Committee to hold public hearings

The Select Committee of the House of Representatives which is discussing issues relating to democracy is inviting applications from organisations and members of civil society wishing to be invited to a series of public hearings.

The hearings will be discussing issues grouped broadly under the headings: Strengthening of Parliament, the updating of the Constitution, and the strengthening of transparency and accountability including the Commission against Corruption, the Office of the Ombudsman, conflicts of interest of MPs and ministers, and state funding of political parties.

Those wishing to participate in the hearings are to indicate their interest by writing in on www.parliament.gov.mt or sending an e-mail on selectcommittee@gov.mt. Correspondence can also be sent on fax number 25596400 of by regular mail to the Select Committee, Office of the Clerk, House of Representatives, Valletta.
