Azzjoni Nazzjoni leader Josie Muscat has written to the Prime Minister complaining that while two of his party’s officials had been asked to choose between their government job and their party role in terms of civil service regulations, the same rules were not applied to officials of the PN and the MLP in similar positions.
Dr Muscat said the two AN officials, Mary Gauci and Tonio Mercieca, had submitted their resignation as party officials and the party had provisionally accepted their resignation while it established the facts.
Dr Muscat said the party felt that the government actions against these two officials was arbitrary and discriminatory.
He urged the government to clarify the situation.
(According to press reports last month, the order to the two AN officials, and to an official of Alternattiva Demokratika who is in a similar position, had been suspended.)
