The emotions beauty awakens in artists need to be expressed in a personal manner, painter Frederick Gingell believes. He admits to having a weakness for beautiful faces.
"Beauty frequently inspires great portraits," he said.
The 62-year-old also expresses his love for colour. "Colour has always been the dominant and forceful characteristic of my works. I strive to reproduce what I see, with my own experiences and feelings, with touches of light and bright colours. I want to share with the viewer the delight of creation."
Mr Gingell, whose exhibition titled Moods Of Colour opens tonight, admits to an irresistible passion for colour, which is reflected in his work.
The paintings will be on display at Cleland and Souchet, in Portomaso, until September 27.
