Elected Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists

Stefan Laspina, MD, FFPath, FRCPath, was recently elected Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK).

Dr Laspina is a consultant in transfusion medicine at Mater Dei Hospital's blood bank. He is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Malta.

After graduating from the University in Medicine in 1992, Dr Laspina continued his training in Ireland specialising in Haematology and Blood Transfusion. He qualified as a pathologist in 2003 and became a member of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK).

Dr Laspina worked at St James' Hospital and the Irish Blood Transfusion Service in Dublin, and in 2006 returned to Malta to become consultant pathologist in the Department of Health. He is also a pathologist at Clinipath Services Ltd, Pietà.
