Mike Johnson's letter (The Sunday Times, August 24) is nothing but confirmation of how irresponsible some people are.

Some visit our locality to spend the day by the sea and dispose of their waste carelessly, taking out their rubbish any time of the day, even after the collection truck would have already done its rounds.

Others dispose of their waste by putting it on other residents' doorsteps.

To make matters worse, others dump bulky refuse in the street. They do this instead of making use of the free service offered to residents and visitors by the council.

The council strives to keep the area clean by contracting services but it is up to each and every citizen to co-operate.

Green wardens are now monitoring the area for illegal dumping.
