Historian Stephen Spiteri will deliver a public talk on 'The Fortifications of the Knights during the Great Siege of 1565' at Bighi Hospital, Kalkara, on Friday at 8 p.m.

The talk forms part of a military surgical conference being hosted by the Association of Surgeons of Malta on Friday and Saturday.

The talk will be followed by drinks on the Bighi Hospital terrace overlooking a magnificent view of Valletta and the Grand Harbour.

Dress code is jacket and tie.

Dr Spiteri, 44, who has lectured and published widely on Maltese fortifications, served for a while as acting curator of the Palace Armoury, Valletta, and is currently superintendent of fortifications in the Ministry for Resources and Infrastructure's restoration unit.
