GWU calls for impact assessment of rent reform
The General Workers' Union (GWU) has presented its rent reform proposals to Social Policy Minister John Dalli, urging the government to assess the effect of the reform prior to legislation.
While noting the positive aspects of the government's proposals, the GWU expressed its agreement that such a reform should lead to easing the burden on couples buying a home.
On the other hand, the union insisted that the state continues to provide social protection and that the government does not abdicate its social responsibilities towards vulnerable sectors of society.
The union also stressed that the revision should not impact negatively those pensioners and families who are unable to pay higher rent.

Unbelievable!! The GWU presented its proposals for rent reform while at the same time urged the government to assess the effect of the reform prior to legislation.
How can anybody proposes something and at the same time admits that he does not know what he is talking about. When one forwards proposals it is expected that one knows something about the impact of those same proposals.
