The feast of Our Lady of Victory at Naxxar is dampened this year by the tragedy of March 12.

I strongly appeal that the religious part should go on as planned.

But band societies in Naxxar should take the lead and cancel external festivities that are organised in the days preceding September 8 and the morning band march on the feast day. All fireworks displays should be cancelled and if possible sold to other fireworks manufacturers. The money saved from these initiatives can be donated to the victims' families to alleviate their sufferings.

We need to show solidarity. We need to send a strong message that we value life.
