A few weeks ago I wrote a letter drawing the attention of the relevant authorities to the disgraceful state of Paceville and St Julians as regards to littering and rubbish.

This time round I am writing to thank all those involved especially the Malta Tourism Authority for increasing drastically the number of rubbish bins in the streets.

This will definitely have a positive effect on the general environment of this highly densely populated area and I hope that Buġibba and St Paul's Bay will receive similar treatment.

I urge the public and tourists alike to respect our country by keeping the environment clean. Similarly those working in the tourism industry should understand that by maintaining a clean environment, their bread and butter will be safeguarded as the times ahead do not look rosy.

Once again I thank all those involved and hope this exercise and others will eventually help Malta become a centre of excellence in tourism by 2015.
