My wife and I took our grandchildren to Rabat for a ride on the trackless train. It was a fabulous tour of Rabat, Mtarfa and around Mdina with GPS sound track in Maltese and English explaining the plentiful historical sites accompanied by the occasional toot toot sound of the vehicle.
All on board enjoyed every minute of the ride immensely. I must add, however, that we had one instance of trepidation when reaching the train terminus as we had to cross two roads near a roundabout , centre to five roads! We even waited on the roundabout for some time for a considerate driver to let us cross.
It was a frightening experience. If it is possible, I suggest that the train be parked alongside the centre strip near Mdina Gate.
I hope the authorities will take note and remedy the situation before a fatal accident occurs, especially during darker hours.
Apart from all this, the train tour is definitely a must for both young and old: Innovative and nostalgic for old people and educational and enjoyable for children.
