New superior general

Mother M. Anna Muscat was elected Superior General of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (formerly known as the Sisters of Egypt).

The election took place during the 23rd general chapter which had the theme Remembering Our Origins: Grace, Strength, Challenge.

Mother Ann was born in Malta and graduated in the US. She spent many years as a teacher and principal in schools both in Malta and in America.

While still quite young, she was given the responsibility of secretary to the Mother General. In 1987, she was provincial superior in the Holy Land. When she returned to Italy, she was local superior in Rome and later spent three years in Malta.

She was lately superior provincial of the communities of southern Italy, Malta and Morocco.
