Two Premier League players suspended

Gaetan Spiteri and Owen Bugeja were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner yesterday after both saw red in the Premier League curtain-raiser between Floriana and Ħamrun Spartans on Friday.

Bugeja was sent off by referee Alan Mario Sant in the opening stages of the match for a professional foul. He will now sit out Floriana's match against Birkirkara on Sunday.

Spiteri was shown the red card in the closing stages of the first half for a second bookable offence and is now ruled out of the Spartans' match against Sliema Wanderers on Saturday.
