A suicide car bomber attacked an Iraqi security force checkpoint, killing nine people and wounding 21, the head of Iraqi military operations in the province said.

Major-General Abdul-Karim al-Rubaie said the attack took place at a checkpoint near the town of Jalawla in northern Diyala province.
