BONETT. on August 23 at Mater Dei Hospital, Jacques, aged 40, passed away comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his parents Jean and Emilie, his sister Chou Mifsud and his nephews Nick and Ben, all his aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said tomorrow, Wednesday, at 8.30 a.m. at Balzan parish church followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. The family regrets it is unable to receive visitors. Lord grant him peace.

FRENDO. On August 23, FRANZ of Sliema (former national waterpolo coach), aged 83, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his only sister Ġuża and his nephews Mario Salnitro and Pat, his grandchildren Michael and his wife Rachel and Paul, Odette Salnitro, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 9 a.m. for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

ZAMMIT. On August 25, at St Vincent De Paul Residence, ROSE, of Gżira, aged 86, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss Mary, widow of her brother John Panzavecchia, her grandchildren, nephews and nieces and their families. The funeral leaves St Vincent De Paul Residence today at 2.30 p.m. for the chapel at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave. No flowers by request but donations to Dar Tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi will be greatly appreciated. Lord grant her eternal rest.

Din l-Art Ħelwa competitions

The closing date for the submission of entries for Din l-Art Ħelwa's 2008 Photographic Exhibition for the Marine Environment is September 7 while the closing date for the submissions of entries for the Din l-Art Ħelwa 2008 Architectural Heritage Award and the Din l-Art Ħelwa Built and Natural Heritage Journalism Award 2008 is September 30. All entries must be received at the offices of the heritage organisation at 133 Melita Street, Valletta.

Gift of Life charity shop

Gift of Life is appealing for volunteers to commit one morning or afternoon of their week to lending a hand at the +9 Charity Shops in Msida and Birkirkara. Those interested are asked to phone 9929 7110.

Tunnels to remain open

Works to be carried out in the Regional Road Tunnels on Thursday have been cancelled due to technical reasons, Enemalta said yesterday.

The tunnels will therefore be open to traffic as usual on the day.
