Feast was no free-for-all
We refer to the article titled 15 In Court After Ħamrun Feast Incident (August 11) which is incorrect in the sense that it seems to portray the feast as having been a total free-for-all.
During the whole feast there was not one single incident, and even more so, not one arrest.
The incidents that took place were totally unrelated to the band clubs and the feast and occurred on the outskirts of Ħamrun. The relationship between our band clubs is excellent and while there exists a sporting rivalry, there have been no incidents or quarrels between them.
We cannot hide our disappointment at the fact that the article was sensational. We reserve our position to take legal action in relation to the said article.

Mr. Farrugia glad to amuse you. Since I am sure that people such as you would never even consider setting foot in Hamrun during the feast, I will refrain from answering any further posts from you since you obviously have no idea what took place during the festa week. Whilst you might think that your opinion on this subject should be readily be taken up a fact ,us 'lesser mortals' from Hamrun beg to differ!

Anton Zammit .... cordiality and friendship that exist between the band clubs and most of their supporters?????

This letter shows the true spirit of deep cordiality and friendship that exist between the band clubs and most of their supporters. Anyone who visited our feast would certainly vouch for that. Thousands of people flocked to the celebrations all weeks and supporters of both band clubs freely mingled with each other as is our tradition in Hamrun. Shame on whoever constantly tries to darken and belittle the image of our village and feast. A big well done to both presidents for this letter.

What is your solution Franco?. Erase all the positve aspects of this tradition which we have in Hamrun and all the other localities? and do so because there are a dozen who do not care less. What about educating that dozen and try to make the feast even better year after year. ?At Hamrun we left from what was chaos in the incident which took place more the 22 years ago. Today you barely see any incident minor as it may be during the whole festive week. At least I haven't seen any and enjoyed every bit of it.
If we abolish all those activities were we hear insults as you are saying, well we can do without the election then too, as there are far too many insults going on in every street, church and houses in Malta and Gozo. What about trying to get people accept other people's opinions instead eh? - and you accept ours Mr. Farrugia.
Well done John Buttigieg and David Farrugia Sacco for the letter!!

Do you all deny the spate of horrific insults hurled from people in one 'march' to 'another', even right in front of the Parish Church, in front of the two band-clubs?
Do you all deny the abuse, the vulgar langauge which is shouted and screamed during these marches?
And then you come, trying to cover up what goes on during the feast?
Once again, ... pull the other one!

The problem in Hamrun - as in other localities - are the various 'parties' which are organised during feasts and when trouble erupts, it is very often as a result of either these private ventures or as a result of outsiders.
From what I have seen in recent years in Hamrun, I can say that I tend to agree that the band clubs not only co-operate amongst themselves and the Police but that the Police itself has a very dedicated team in Hamrun which is doing sterling work.
If I had to make a general observation which applies to all feasts in general, it would be better to control the type of merriment, attire and availability of spirits during the traditional marches. Unfortunately, there is nothing religious in the way things are normally carried out.

Franco, this particular accident happened two hours after Sunday march at around 5pm. it was a fight between two rival families. they fight almost every month. Don't comment about something you haven't witnessed.

@ Franku!! Explain your comment please! We are not that much academic!! You have to comment even on Hamrun without knowing even where the place IS!!
