Crimsonwing Malta in Divestco solutions project

IT solutions provider Crimsonwing has kicked off a three-phase project for Canadian oil and gas data, service and technology leader Divestco. The MS Dynamics project will involve the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics AX across several companies acquired by Divestco over the past few years.

Based in Calgary, Divestco is a large growth-oriented company with 500-plus staff worldwide which provides a comprehensive and integrated portfolio of software, services, data and consulting to the booming oil and gas industry.

The breadth and uniqueness of its portfolio and the expertise of their employees offers customers the ability to access and analyse information.

The project will be managed entirely by Crimsonwing's US office which was set up last January. Headed by managing director Stefan van den Brink, the US office was set up in close proximity to Microsoft's US head office and provides Microsoft Academies (for Dynamics) in a business to business model to new Microsoft partners across the US and Europe. The US office acts as a one-stop shop providing all services for new partners.

Despite its relative newness to the scene, Crimsonwing's US office has had a quick start, with the Divestco project now third in line.

Staff from the US and Malta offices have already spent time in Calgary and will continue to do so for the duration of the project.

The Divestco project will start with the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics AX within two different companies both of which have their own enterprise resource planning or financial system. By implementing a common system, all subsidiaries will be better able to consolidate their business.

Four key modules (finance, fixed assets, projects, trade and logistics) will be implemented by Crimsonwing's US and Malta-based consultants with much of the work being carried out on site in Calgary.

Crimsonwing's Malta Solution Centre will be supporting the implementation with the development in Microsoft Dynamics AX and CRM interfaces as well as with the development of web solutions requiring integration with MS Dynamics AX technology.

By using Malta-based staff, the US office will have immediate access to broader range of services and a larger skills pool and additionally they will experience the workings of a highly efficient professional services model at its best.

It is anticipated that this initial phase will run till the end of the year and go live in January. Following this, another two companies will follow suit and phase two will also kick in with an upgrade to AX2009 as well as a focus on ramping up their in-house AX consultants.
