Antoine was the rare type of person who insisted on always giving his best without expecting much in return.

In all posts he was involved in, as a teacher, as mayor of San Ġwann, in one of the many organisations he worked in, he gave his time and energy in a most dedicated way, almost shying away from the limelight.

I knew him for many years and have known him as a gentle teacher, eager to listen and advise but preferring, if possible, not to be direct. He was a keen "child of Valletta", having loved the city and all that had to do with it. He was particularly anxious to see that religious feasts and traditions were kept alive. He tried to remain active, especially at the Società Filarmonica La Valette, to the end in spite of his failing health.

I have never seen him get angry but patiently try to continue in his positive stance in spite of the fact that he did not always get the response he expected and had a right to.
