Yes, a Maltese student resident in Malta who chooses to read for a degree at another EU university is entitled to the same stipend he/she would have gotten had he/she read for the equivalent course at the local university provided that a stipend is available for students who enrol in the equivalent local course. EU law provides that as stipends are a social benefit for Maltese residents, they should be available irrespective of the choice of university provided that the same course conditions exist as in the local course. Thus if no stipends are given for evening courses held locally, no stipends are entitled for evening courses taking place at other EU universities.
