A conciliation meeting was held yesterday between the Professionals and Services Employees Union and St John's Co-Cathedral Foundation, which said a way forward had been found in their dispute. St John's Co-Cathedral employees were called out on a one-hour strike on Monday.
The union claimed the action by 10 employees was a success and the queues at the door were longer than usual, but the foundation insisted it was business as usual. Cynthia De Giorgio, speaking for the foundation, said "various issues were discussed at the meeting, the main one being the collective agreement, which is now in the final stages".
Union president Karmenu Vella had said industrial action would continue until the foundation agreed to talks on pending issues and not just the collective agreement for part-time custodians.
