Foreign Minister Tonio Borg yesterday expressed his condolences to his Spanish counterpart Miguel Angel Moratinos following Wednesday's plane crash in Madrid.

"This accident is a shock to all of us and our thoughts are with the Spanish people and the many other families who suffered loss at this difficult and sad moment," Dr Borg said in his message.

The Spanair crash at Madrid's Barajas International Airport claimed the lives of 153 people and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs said it has no information that any Maltese nationals were among the victims.
